ACT- Report of 1998-99

Snap shots - 1998 - 99      The batch of August 1998- 3 year old , provided some terrific results: We began with a very intensive general knowledge program comprising of about 60 animals, 40 birds, fish, flowers, people and their work, India political, major landforms and oceans and their locations, other than the all time favourites Early World of learning. They have been shown a lot of CDs, videos to cover the topics done so that the comprehension is as thorough as possible. They have finished three primer books in Tamil and in English - a reading vocabulary of about 100 words in each language.      Four 5 year olds joined us last August. They are more serious. We did the same work with them for GK but with greater speed and they are already into reading and math programs. They have done about 10 books in Tamil and three in English.      The cream of the school - our 6 year olds who joined...

ACT- Report of 1997-98

Snap shots - 1997 - 98      Since the article written by Shri.C.Subramaniam was published in June 96, in The Hindu, we were visited by several interested NGOs.      The highlight of year 1997 was the school trip to Chennai - with 18 children. They drank in the sights and sounds of the city, though they felt that Arasavanangkadu smells better! This included a romp at the MGM-Dizzie World, enjoying on rides they could not have even dreamt of. They also learned science through those rides - but of course that was at the debriefing when we got back. At the Airport they saw how big the airplanes really were, and not the familiar speck. With the consent of the Airport Authorities the children were taken for a round of the insides of the Airport, with commentaries on the working of security and the Airlines.      At the Vandalur zoo they saw the reds of the eyes of the lion, tiger and a panther that...

ACT- Report of 1996-97

Snap shots - 1996 - 97      We made a study of the work done by students of other schools of the same grade. We found that they did a lot of written assignments. Our children didn't. We are now stepping up the written work too. We hope that they will soon match any child anywhere. The elder group is now about 6 to 7 years of age.      We have substantially revved the engine for the older group ; they are ready for absorbing a lot more in a session than before. By September they were ready for full day school and the timings changed from 9 am - 1 pm to 10 am - 4 pm . The attention span of the children has increased to cope up with that ! Formal classes are still held only from 10 to 13:30 hrs. The next half day is spent in GK, painting, art-work, games, quizzes.      We now provide a full lunch at 1:30 p m and follow up with a 'nourisher' at 15:30 .      We have...

Snap shots - 1994 - 96       We began a small rural school, with a strength of 12 children. With a thatched roof shed for a school on August 15, 1994 .      In February 1995, we began with a comprehensive program - a system which attempts to combine the learning techniques of the MOTHER ( of Aurobindo Ashram) and the teaching techniques of Glenn Doman - using a system of flash cards and other FUN IN LEARNING methods. The school attempts to incorporate several experiences into the curriculum including audio-visual aids and educational outings.      The children have responded very positively to the reading and math programs and enjoy their one hour of concentrated learning. The general knowledge has grown and their memory is phenomenal. We are happy to report above average progress of the children. We have in June, taken on a second batch.      With the appointment ...
